Vallecito Lake has plenty of accommodations for every budget. From cabins and RV parks to Forest Service campgrounds and vacation homes, you’ll find the right place to stay.

Vallecito Marina and Yacht Club is off CR 501 located on the SE shore of the lake. The Lake Side Cafe fronts the road, and the marina is located in the parking lot below on the lakeshore. Here is a Google Maps link.

Vallecito Marina and Yacht Club offers multiple kayaks, pedal boats and stand up paddle boards. We DON’T rent jet skis, tubes, wakeboards, or water skis.

Yes, we allow dogs on certain boats but not others, for an additional $50 fee. Some pontoon boats and all aluminum fishing boats are OK for dogs. Please pay attention when booking your reservation whether or not that vessel is dog-friendly. Don’t forget their life vest as well!

Yes, Vallecito Marina and Yacht Club sells gas at the marina.

The marina has a computer available for public use in order to purchase fishing licenses. However, we strongly recommend that you purchase your fishing licenses prior to arrival as we hate to see any unnecessary delays in getting you out on the lake. It’s easy to purchase via your smartphone from the Colorado Department of Wildlife by clicking here.

Earlier in the day is typically the best time to go out. Being in a mountain valley, the wind tends to pick up in the afternoons especially in May and June. In July, we do occasionally get some afternoon rains.
But as they say in Colorado, if you do not like the weather, wait 20 minutes!

The capacity is determined by head count, so both babies and children count as one individual person on the boat regardless of their size. Feel free to give us a call at 970-884-7000 or email us and we can help find the perfect boat for your group!
If You Rent a Boat

We recommend arriving about 30 minutes in advance of your rental, especially if you haven’t yet purchased your fishing license (and you intend to fish).

Each boat rental comes equipped with the following: life jackets, paddle, throw cushion, anchor, whistle, a full tank of gas, and a landing net for fishing. If you’re renting an aluminum fishing boat, we provide seat cushions for everyone in your party who rides on that boat.

Sunscreen, towels, drinks, water, food, and fishing gear. If you’re renting an aluminum fishing boat, be sure to bring a hat and an umbrella for shade as there are no bimini tops on those boats.

All state and federal laws must be followed including maximum number of passengers/weight per boats as indicated on the USCG placard displayed in each boat. Infants and children are included in the total number of passengers.
All passengers 14 and under MUST be wearing life jackets (PFD’s) while on board. (State & Federal law)
Everyone on a kayak, canoe, pedal boat, or paddle board is also required to wear a life jacket while aboard the watercraft.
No beaching nor shoreline tie up of motorized watercraft is permitted. Stay a minimum of 50 feet from the shoreline.
Excessive soiling of boat interior will require an additional clean up fee.
Late returns will be assessed additional fees.
Picking up additional passengers not included in the liability waiver portion of the boat rental agreement is strictly prohibited.
Additional rules are posted in the marina boathouse.
Any violation of the agreement or rules governing the terms of the agreement are subject to immediate termination of the rental (without refund) and will result in an additional $250 assessment.
