Breathtaking for viewing and drive around the lake

What a wonderful day to drive around the lake, stop by the stream and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Adequate bathroom stops all the way around and maintained roads. Viewed lots of campgrounds that could some day become a return trip for us. Cannot comment on lake itself as we did not partake in any boating/fishing, etc.

Gorgeous - Scenic

During a recent trip to Durango we took an afternoon and rented a pontoon boat on Vallecito Lake. The drive from Durango is filled with wonderful sites and is not long at all. The lake itself is situated with mountain views, shorelines with campers, and fishermen. It was lovely, clean, folks at the marina were very friendly an helpful. I would go back anytime.

Perfect place for hiking boating and fishing county road 501 winds around the mountains giving you good wildlife viewing area and the lake has meadows to run the dog or fish and kayak from

Vallecito Lake is about 30 miles from Durango Colorado. It is a very large lake nestled in between mountain ranges. You can fish, rent boats, paddle board, kayak and water ski on the lake. There are places to stay around the lake including lodges and an RV resort that is very nice. There is also camping near by. If you like lakes and mountains, you will enjoy Vallecito Lake!

Excellent views and beautiful lakes

Beautiful drive out to Lemon Lake and Vallecito Lake. We weren't real sure about the dirt road that goes around part of the lake, but we made the drive and it was outstanding viewing. Be sure to check out both lakes!
